The Another Code series (アナザーコード) (referred to as the "Trace Memory Series" in the American localization of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) is a franchise that consists of adventure games created by Japanese developers Cing and Arc System Works, and owned by Nintendo. They have been released for platforms of Nintendo, the company that also publishes the games.
So far, the series consists of three games:
- Another Code: Two Memories (Trace Memory in North America) - Released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS
- Another Code: R - A Journey into Lost Memories for the Wii in 2009
- Another Code: Recollection for the Switch in 2024, which contains remakes of the first two games
Both center on the teenage protagonist Ashley Mizuki Robbins, an aspiring musician and daughter of two scientists. A major element of the games is to find information on the past of Ashley and her family as well as other characters. The name of the series relates to Another, an enigmatic system that was at the core of research made by Ashley's parents. However, in the American version of the first installment, the name of the system was changed to Trace and the game was retitled as Trace Memory, so that the title would be incorporated into the plot like in the Japanese and European versions.
The games are set in the same fictional universe as the Kyle Hyde Saga, but in a latter time, and share many gameplay elements.
This series also doesn't have any Game Overs, unlike the Kyle Hyde Saga and Again.
