The Game Overs of the Kyle Hyde Saga are scenarios shown when certain conditions with negative outcomes are met, such as making incorrect choices during conversations or poorly handling certain puzzles. According to Takuya Miyagawa, "if you select an action that Kyle would never do, sometimes it could be Game Over for you. Overall, the main storyline does not change, but we did prepare several kinds of endings that can be changed depending on how you play the game."[1]

There are 43 ways to get a Game Over in Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West each. In Hotel Dusk, pressing "Try Again" will put the player back at the last crossroads of the story, but they will lose reaching a better outcome in the ending of the game, while Last Window does not have any penalties upon retrying.

Last Window - Game Over (Standard)

Types of Game Overs[]

Kicked out / Eviction[]

In Hotel Dusk, if Kyle Hyde makes a wrong action, say the wrong words or fail certain puzzles, the song "Drunken Waltz" will play, acting as comedy relief and emphasizing the non-canon aspect of the ongoing scene. In such instances, Dunning Smith makes an appearance, to which Kyle will attempt to make light of the situation, or lie about his wrongdoing to no avail. Dunning will then proceed to kick him out of the hotel. Kyle will have a flashback on what went wrong, and will eventually realize his missteps, ending with the Game Over screen.

Failing a pursuit[]

In Hotel Dusk, while pursuing characters, choosing a wrong option in a question that should create another one will make said character refuse to speak any further to Kyle (while the song "Countdown" will suddenly play). Kyle will retreat in his room (as the song "Sunset Men" is being played), where he will slowly succumb into a depressive state and not leave until the next day.

Similarly, in Last Window, selecting a wrong option that should create another one (and in one rare case, choosing the wrong order of questions) will make the tenants refuse to speak to Kyle and kick him out of their rooms or leave on their own. Kyle will reflect with regret on how he should had approached the conversation as the game ends.

Special Game Overs[]

Some Game Overs in the series stand out from the rest, from playing a different song in the Game Over screen (Hotel Dusk), to even displaying a different scenario from the usual outcome (Last Window).

Death / Loss of consciousness[]

Game Over EN Last Window - Unconscious

Special Game Over screen from Last Window. Kyle Hyde is laid on the floor of Room 404, his condition unknown.

In the Game Over #41 and #42 of Hotel Dusk, Kyle is trapped in a basement room by an unknown assailant. If he does not make sufficient progress to escape, he will lose consciousness as his last words will be the realization of his eventual demise, and hatred towards the hotel, while the song "Countdown" plays in the background all the way to the Game Over screen.

Last Window portrays a similar Game Over if Kyle fails to pinpoint the mysterious assailant that sprayed him with sleep gas. On Game Over #40, Kyle gets sprayed again. He realizes who is the real culprit but before he can say their name, he drops to the floor, ending on a special Game Over screen. It is uncertain whether he's still alive or dead.

Quitting / Getting sidetracked[]

Game Over - Last Window - Quit

In Game Over #25 of Last Window, as the sequence plays out, Kyle will have a flashback of his wrongdoings towards Betty Meyer, but he soon snaps out of it, ragefully redirecting his blame to her, then quit his investigation and leave the building on his own. This is accompanied by a special Game Over screen.

Similarly, in Game Over #33 of Hotel Dusk, upon Martin Summer leaving, Kyle will have an epiphany, as he explains to the other worried characters his actions. The sequence is interrupted by the song "Drunken Waltz" (which will play even during the Game Over screen), creating a special comic atmosphere as Dunning doesn't punish him, puts Rosa's concerns to the side, and instead proposes to spend the night at the bar with Kyle, which he gleefully agrees. The trade-off comes when Kyle realizes he will not leave the bar until the next day, putting a stop to his search.

2 Chapter 1, 5:10 PM Bellhop Room 215 Choose to not talk to the bellhop who came to deliver the package to room 215, or touch the Inquire mark then select "Forget it. Leave him be.", and the man will leave the room. Kyle will later go to the front desk, where the bellhop will tell Dunning that Kyle was a detective. "Louis told me all about you. Says you're a dirty cop!", then Kyle gets kicked out.
3 Chapter 1, 5:10 PM Louis Room 215 After asking Louis "You went straight?", touch the Inquire icon and select "You're up to no good!" Louis gets angry and leaves the room after the conversation's over. Later, when you get to the front desk, Dunning, who heard Louis' story, says, "If ya wanna investigate my place, go get yerself a damn warrant! Ya hear?!" and kicks out Kyle.
4 Chapter 1, 5:20 PM Louis Room 215 When Louis asks if Kyle's job has changed, choose "I just transferred.", and Iris and Dunning will come to the room later on. If you select "Cut it out!" in the choices, Iris counters, saying that she was suspicious of Kyle, and eventually tells him "I called the 89th Precinct and asked to speak to Detective Kyle Hyde [...] They said there was NO SUCH PERSON!" Dunning hears of this and kicks him out, annoyed of his troublesome attitude.
5 Chapter 1, 5:20 PM Summer Room 215 In a conversation with Summer who came to deliver the luggage, touch the Inquire icon and select "Don't read my stuff!" and then again, selecting "I'll show you behavior!", then Summer goes out with resentment. When Kyle walks into the hallway, Dunning tells him, "He (Summer) said ya bit his head off just 'cause he opened the damned thing! Must be somethin' in that package ya don't want nobody else to see, huh?", and kicks Kyle out of the hotel.
6 Chapter 2, 5:30 PM Rosa 2nd Floor Hallway When talking to Rosa, who you meet in the hallway on the second floor, if you select "Tell me about Louis" and touch the Inquire icon every time, choosing "What's the rumor?", "Why you can't talk?" and "Spill it! Now!", you will be told to meet Dunning in the front desk. Dunning, who was informed by Rosa, misunderstands Kyle as a reporter or something, and kicks him out saying "I don't need no bad press drivin' away business!"
7 Chapter 2, 5:40 PM - Office While searching the office, if you accidentally drop the cabinet lifted by the "Crowbar", it will make a loud noise. Hearing the noise, Dunning will soon arrive at the scene. Kyle is kicked out by an angry Dunning not only because he trespassed the office, but also because he stole the "Crowbar".
8 Chapter 2, 5:40 PM Louis Lobby Louis, who Kyle meets when he leaves the office, asks if he talked about his criminal record to Dunning. If you choose "I sure did!", Louis gets angry and leaves. After that, Kyle meets Dunning in the central hallway on the first floor and gets kicked out after being told, "It's about Louis! [...] Now I don't know what the hell's goin' on between you two, but lemme tell ya... I don't need this! I don't need any troublemakers in my hotel!"
9 Chapter 2, 5:40 PM Louis Lobby After leaving the office and meeting Louis, choose "Nah, it wasn't about you," and when asked if it was true that Kyle quit being a detective, choose "Better lie to him." Louis gets angry and leaves. After that, Kyle meets Dunning in the central hallway on the first floor and gets kicked out after Dunning says "Like I told ya, this hotel's off-limits to all scumbags... Includin' COPS!"
10 Chapter 2, 5:40 PM Rosa Lobby In a conversation with Rosa when Kyle meets her in the lobby, if you choose "Rat out Louis.", Rosa says, "I could tell he wasn't an honest kid! That punk!" After that, Kyle is kicked out of the hotel by Dunning, who he meets in the hallway on the 2nd floor, because he knows about Louis's criminal record, and suspects Kyle of ransacking the office.
11 Chapter 2, 5:40 PM Rosa Lobby In a conversation with Rosa when Kyle meets her in the lobby, if you choose "Don't tell her anything" and don't touch the Inquire icon that appears after that, Rosa makes a suspicious look and scurries away. Kyle will then be kicked out when he meets Dunning in the hallway upstairs (on suspicion of him and Louis being thieves), and gets told, "Rosa's got eyes in the back of her head. Ya can't fool her!"
12 Chapter 2, 5:50 PM Dunning Central Hallway When asking questions to Dunning in the central hallway on the 1st floor, touch the "Item" icon to show "Crowbar", "Pliers", "Screwdriver", "Small Red Box" or "Memo" from when you searched the office. What you did is revealed and eventually you get kicked out.
13 Chapter 2, 5:50 PM Dunning Central Hallway If you ask Dunning, who you met in the central hallway on the 1st floor, either of the two questions, "Who's Jenny?" or "What's with Dec. 5th?", Dunning will realize that it was Kyle who snooped in the office. He is told that he can't stay at the hotel, and gets kicked out.
14 Chapter 2, 5:50 PM Louis Louis's Room When pursuing Louis, after asking the questions "Who killed Danny?" and "Why'd you leave the city?", if you make a wrong choice, Louis will say that Kyle has "no idea what's goin' on" and will refuse to confess the truth. Kyle, who is depressed stays in the room as it is.
15 Chapter 3, 6:00 PM Summer Restaurant After the meal, ask Summer the question "What was in that notebook, anyway?", then select "Yeah, I read it." and then "Calm down, Shakespeare!" Summer will leave angry. When Kyle leaves the restaurant, he meets Dunning, who tells him that "Unlike you, Summer's a special guest of this hotel!," and kicks Kyle out.
16 Chapter 3, 6:40 PM Melissa Room 218 When pursuing Melissa, after asking "Know why your mom left?", if you select "It's your fault!", Melissa will tell you "I never, ever want to be a grown-up like you!" Kyle falls into depression shortly afterwards and then shuts himself in his room.
17 Chapter 4, 7:00 PM Jeff Room 217 If you enter Room 217 without talking to Jeff in the hallway on the second floor, Jeff and Dunning will enter the room when you try to leave. Jeff told Dunning what Kyle was doing. Dunning says "I won't have sneaky scum like you in my place!", and kicks Kyle out of the hotel on the spot.
18 Chapter 4, 7:00 PM Rosa Room 211 After talking to Rosa who's standing in front of Summer's room, before asking a question, touch the "Item" icon to show the "Room 217 Key", making Rosa agitated. Dunning makes a sudden appearance, and from Rosa's story, he concludes Kyle was the one vandalizing the hotel. Kyle is then kicked out on the spot.
19 Chapter 4, 7:20 PM Dunning Front Desk When asking questions to Dunning at the front desk, touch the "Item" icon to show either the "Crowbar", "Pliers", "Screwdriver", "Small Red Box", "Memo", "Stack of Cash", or "Room 217 Key". Kyle gets mistaken for the criminal who stole either Jeff's belongings or the hotel's and is kicked out of the hotel on the spot.
20 Chapter 4, 7:40 PM Rosa Central Hallway When asking Rosa a question in the central hallway on the 1st floor, touch the "Item" icon to show the "Key of Room 217", and Rosa will get agitated. Dunning then comes and listens to Rosa. He says, "Yer the one who trashed my office!," and kicks Kyle out.
21 Chapter 4, 7:40 PM Dunning In front of the Utility Closet When asking questions to Dunning after meeting him in front of the utility closet, touch the "Item" icon and touch the "Crowbar", "Pliers", "Screwdriver", "Small Red Box", "Memo", "Stack of Cash", or "Room 217 Key". Dunning mistakenly thinks of him as the thief and he is kicked out of the hotel on the spot.
22 Chapter 4, 7:40 PM - 2nd Floor Hallway, Stairs After hearing about the item inspection from Iris, go to the 1st floor with any of the following items in your possession: "Crowbar", "Pliers", "Screwdriver", "Small Red Box", "Memo", "Stack of Cash", or "Room 217 Key". When you get off, Dunning will search your belongings. Dunning eventually finds the item and immediately kicks Kyle out of the hotel.
23 Chapter 4, 7:40 PM Summer Room 211 When pursuing Summer, after asking "Why are you so angry?", select "The handwriting is awful." and then choose "There is nothing more I wish to discuss with you.", Summer replies, and kicks Kyle out of the room. Kyle falls into depression and then shuts himself in his room.
24 Chapter 5, 8:00 PM Jeff Central Hallway In the central hallway on the 1st floor, if you touch the "Item" icon and show a "Stack of Cash" to Jeff when you are talking to him, Jeff laughs, saying "So it was you after all!". Dunning arrives, branding Kyle as the thief and kicking him from the hotel on the spot.
25 Chapter 5, 8:00 PM Jeff Central Hallway After asking Jeff, who is in the central hallway on the 1st floor, the question "What was taken from you?", if you touch the Inquire icon and select "It was $20,000, right?" Dunning will come and inspect your belongings. At this time, if a "Stack of Cash" is in Kyle's belongings, he is mistaken for the thief and is kicked from the hotel on the spot.
26 Chapter 5, 8:00 PM Dunning Central Hallway After Jeff leaves, when asking questions to Dunning, touch the "Item" icon and select either "Crowbar", "Pliers", "Screwdriver", "Small Red Box", "Memo", "Stack of Cash", or "Room 217 Key". You will show them to Dunning, who then identifies Kyle as the thief, and immediately kicks him out.
27 Chapter 5, 8:40 PM Louis Laundry When Louis asks what you found in the laundry room, if you answer "Mind your own business!" and then "That's right!", Louis mutters, "Can't believe I thought I could trust a rat like you." After leaving the laundry room, Dunning and Louis are waiting. Betrayed, Louis betrays him back, and Kyle is ordered to leave the hotel immediately.
28 Chapter 5, 8:40 PM Jeff Room 214 or Utility Closet Before infiltrating Room 213 as Louis is in the middle of the distraction, if you answered Louis's question in the laundry room with "Create a distraction", go to Room 214, and if you answered "Get him out of the room", go to the utility closet. The plan becomes a mess. Jeff reports to Dunning and Kyle is kicked out of the hotel.
29 Chapter 5, 8:40 PM Jeff Room 213 When pursuing Jeff, after asking the questions "Why hide cash in my room?", "I know about the gun.", "Your real name is...", if you make a mistake, Jeff will tell you that you're worthless and you'll be kicked out of the room. Kyle will stay in his room feeling depressed.
30 Chapter 6, 9:20 PM Dunning Restaurant Inside the restaurant and in front of the piano, touch the "Item" icon to select either the "Crowbar", "Pliers", "Screwdriver", "Small Red Box", "Memo", "Stack of Cash", or "Room 217 Key" and show them to Dunning. Kyle is suspected of stealing hotel equipment and is kicked out from the hotel on the spot.
31 Chapter 6, 9:40 PM - Kitchen After applying "Adhesive Remove" to the "Label" of the wine bottle, touch the "Return" icon once to exit the puzzle-solving screen. Then, the "Label" will be torn when you try again. Rosa rushes in and laments, "We don't have any more bottles of this wine!" Kyle falls into depression and shuts himself in his room.
32 Chapter 6, 9:40 PM Helen Room 212 When pursuing Helen, after asking the questions "Who was this person?" and "Why don't you contact him?", if you make a mistake, Helen will say that "But obviously you are a man who crashes through life oblivious to emotions." The depressed Kyle shuts himself in his room.
33 Chapter 7, 10:00 PM Summer Bar Talk to Summer at the Bar and lie to him that the person who you told the secret is "The maid. Rosa." Summer will be disappointed and, then talk to Rosa in the Central Hallway on the 1st floor. Hearing the noise, Dunning comes in. He is delighted that ''that puffed-up fool'' has checked out, and decides to drink with Kyle until next morning...
34 Chapter 7, 10:40 PM Dunning Right Hallway After being kicked out of Dunning's room, knock on the room again and ask Dunning "Who's the girl in the photo?". Dunning then suspects Kyle's actions and drives him out of the hotel, saying, "Ya don't act like a regular guest."
35 Chapter 7, 10:40 PM Kevin Front Desk When pursuing Kevin, after asking the questions "Talk about Iris.", "Talk about Gallery May." and "Why didn't things work out?", if you make a mistake in one of the options, Kevin won't tell you the truth. Kyle retreats to his room, depressed because he failed to pursue the truth.
36 Chapter 8, 11:00 PM - Louis's Room After putting the "Cassette Tape" in the cassette deck, if you keep pressing the fast-forward button without pressing the play button, the tape will break. Louis will come and say, "I told ya, my man! No rewindin' or fast-forwardin'! Thing's busted!" Kyle is completely depressed by his own stubbornness and stays in his room.
37 Chapter 8, 11:00 PM Iris Room 216 When pursuing Iris, after asking the questions "Let's talk about the plan.", "Let's talk about the doll." and "Let's talk about Grace.", if you make a mistake in selecting one of the options, Iris won't tell you anything. Kyle then retreats to his room and shuts the door, feeling depressed.
38 Chapter 8, 11:40 PM Rosa Rosa's Room When pursuing Rosa, after asking the questions "Talk about the brochure.", "Talk about Mila's father." and "Talk about the promise.", if you make a mistake in even one choice, Rosa will be overwhelmed, and says that you cannot understand her issues. Kyle retreats and shuts himself in his room.
39 Chapter 9, 12:20 PM Dunning Lobby When heading to Room 111 with Mila from Rosa's room, if you go directly to the lobby from the right corridor on the 1st floor, you will bump into Dunning. "Where do ya think yer takin' Mila?" Kyle, misunderstood and labeled as a creep, gets immediately kicked out of the hotel.
40 Chapter 9, 12:20 PM Mila Room 111 When Mila loses consciousness in Room 111 and you get to her, if you do nothing for a while or touch the "Return" icon, no rescue attempt will be made and you will not be able to save Mila. Rosa becomes disappointed in you, then Kyle shuts himself in his room.
41 Chapter 10, 2:00 AM - Basement A After being confined in the basement, if you go to various places to investigate, you will gradually become suffocated. If you touch something in the room 14 times or more to display a message before you use the cypher machine, you will lose consciousness and not be able to get out alive. (The counter does not increase when you are examining/interacting with items while in a 2D perspective.)
42 Chapter 10, 2:00 AM - Basement A When entering the code into the cypher machine and decrypting it, if you touch the Enter button with the code written incorrectly, you will end up with an error. If you make this mistake three times, you will suddenly suffocate and not be able to get out alive.
43 Chapter 10, 2:00 AM Dunning Basement B When pursuing Dunning, after asking the questions "What did you and Evans discuss?", "What did Bradley say?" and "Is Evans going to contact you?", if you make a mistake, Dunning will refuse to speak up, and Kyle will stay in his room, mentally ruined after being so close, yet ending so far from the truth.

Last Window: The Secret of Cape West[]

1 2 Tony Room 202 In a conversation with Tony, who came to Room 202 to ask for help from Kyle, choose "I'm not in the mood for any trouble", then the option "Why do you think I'll help you out?", and Tony will leave the room in disappointment. After that, you will attempt to stop Tony from screaming at Marie in the hallway, but he will punch you instead.
2 2 Marie Room 206 After entering to Room 206 to look for Marie's ring, talk to Marie twice before finding the ring and choose the option "Looks like it's not here after all" and Marie will kick Kyle out of the room. After that, Tony will break into Marie's room and find her ring, crushing Kyle's confidence.
3 3 Mrs. Patrice Room 202 In a conversation with Mrs. Patrice who came to Room 202 to urge Kyle to pay the rent, if he listens to both questions without touching the Inquire icon that appears twice, Mrs. Patrice becomes disappointed in Kyle's attitude and threatens she will call the police if he doesn't leave the apartment by the next day.
4 3 Tony Room 202 In a conversation with Tony who brings in a profit story, if you touch the Inquire icon and choose either of the options that appear after that, all the money you have collected will be taken away. Later, Betty meets Kyle in the hallway, which tells him that Tony's profit story was about gambling and realizes that he was fooled.

(If you want to obtain Game Over #10, now it's a good time. Interact with the glass bottle when you're looking for rent money, then get the "Screwdriver" from the drawer, under the glass bottle. You will need it later.)

5 3 Dylan Room 304 In a conversation when Kyle visits Dylan's room to borrow a hammer, choose "I've got something to take care of" and "No way I'm telling you anything", making Dylan report to Mrs. Patrice to come. Unexpectedly, she will scold both Kyle and Dylan, getting them assigned on cleaning and helping from the next day until eviction.
6 3 Dylan Room 304 When you visit Dylan's room to borrow a hammer, if you press the "Return" button three times without solving the broken jigsaw puzzle, you will be kicked out by Dylan when he returns. After that, Kyle will be visited by Mrs. Patrice, which will scold him and Dylan, and both will be assigned on cleaning and helping from the next day until eviction.
7 3 Rex Lobby When pursuing Rex, if Kyle makes a mistake in the choices that appear after asking the questions "Why are you investigating Marie?" and "What kind of person do you think she is?", Rex will say that Kyle is a little rusty and that him quitting the detective career was the correct answer, then Rex will leave without telling the truth.
8 4 Marie Room 206 When Kyle is pursuing Marie, if you make a mistake during the questions "Are you trying to commit insurance fraud?" and "This already happened 13 years ago?", Marie will tell you that you have misunderstood (depending on the questions that you answered wrongly), and won't confess the truth. Kyle will then be kicked out of Marie's room.
9 4 - 4th Floor Staircase If you open the fire door without turning off the emergency bell switch along with the control panel on the other side, the bell will ring at a deafening volume. The sound will gather Dylan, Frank, Betty and Mrs. Patrice. Kyle will be kicked out of his apartment.
10 4 - 4th Floor Staircase When opening the fire door to go to the hallway on the 4th floor, if you use a "Screwdriver" (obtained from an earlier instance. See Game Over #4) to remove the glass cover that protects the operation lever of the emergency bell, the cover will fall and make a loud noise if you don't hold it and put it down gently. The sound will gather Dylan, Frank, Betty and Mrs. Patrice. Kyle will be kicked out of his apartment.
11 4 - 4th Floor Hallway / Back After opening the fire door and entering the back hallway of the 4th floor, if you proceed to the back of the 4th floor without inserting the "Stopper" into the door, you will be trapped in the hallway. Kyle will be waiting for Dylan to come in 30 minutes as promised, but he won't show up. Thus, Kyle spends the rest of the day and night stuck inside.
12 4 Tony 2nd Floor Hallway In a conversation with Tony, who is arguing with Frank, Tony is disappointed that even Kyle suspects him if you choose "Spill it! What did you do?" after touching the Inquire icon. He then gets desperate and beats Kyle, saying that he's sick of being stigmatized as a bad guy.
13 4 Frank Room 201 In a conversation with Frank in Tony's room, Frank rushes out of Room 201 if you talk to him without touching the Inquire icon. Later, when Tony enters the room, he gets angry because he heard from Frank that Kyle is looking into his stuff. Kyle attempts to explain, but he is beaten without being heard.
14 4 Frank Room 201 In Tony's room, after asking Frank "Tell me what's on the tape recorder", if you choose the option "I'd rather not say", Frank will leave, looking disappointed. After that, Mrs. Patrice arrives and says she'll call the police on suspicion of Kyle stealing Frank's tape recorder.
15 4 Tony Room 404 When pursuing Tony, if you make a mistake in the options that appear after asking "So you are planning something!" and "What's this plan you're talking about?", he'll say that it's useless to talk anymore. Tony leaves without telling the truth.
16 4 - Room 202 If you switch the cassette tape in your answering machine to listen to "Frank's tape" in your room, and then press and hold the rewind button or fast-forward button, eventually the tape will break. Kyle, who didn't expect it, regrets having to explain the accident to Frank.
17 5 Tony 2nd Floor Hallway If you sell a "Cleaner" to Tony during your salesman trial, he will rush back to you later. He laments that all the enamel has come off when he polished his precious guitar with the "Cleaner", and throws an angry fist at Kyle.
18 5 Charles 3rd Floor Hallway If you sell "Glue" to Charles during your salesman trial, he will come back to you and complain about the item. Mrs. Patrice quickly appears and finds out of the incident. Kyle is summoned to her room where he tries to explain the full story, but is warned that he is banned from any future sales in the building.
19 5 Betty 2nd Floor Hallway If you sell a "Powerful Bleach" to Betty during your salesman trial, she will come back to you and complain about the item. She seems to have turned all the patterns on her dress white because of the "Powerful Bleach". She will want her dress to be reimbursed immediately, while Kyle regrets not reading the instructions.
20 5 - 2nd Floor Hallway or 3rd Floor Hallway Ed will call if Kyle makes a mistake in a conversation with Tony, Betty, Charles and Marie after he fails to sell inventory and no more tenants are available for two separate purchases (Selling to Tony twice will count as one purchase). He'll say that a complaint came from an apartment that Kyle was in trouble because of a forced sales pitch. This time you will be fired for good.
21 5 Charles 3rd Floor Hallway When you visit Charles in Room 305, ask "Did they come to the café today?" On the question panel, select "Yeah, I do", then the option "Don't try to deny it!"; Charles will get angry as he returns to his room. After that, Mrs. Patrice arrives, contacted on suspicion of Kyle's behavior and kicks him out of his apartment.
22 5 Dylan Room 304 When pursuing Dylan to tell the truth, if you choose "You think this is a game?" from the options that appear after asking "How did you know about the threat to Mags?", Dylan will say that Kyle is unpleasant and kicks him out of the room.
23 6 Mrs. Patrice Lobby In a conversation with Mrs. Patrice when you meet in front of the elevator, if you choose "I heard from Dylan" after "By trouble, do you mean threats?", Dylan will appear as soon as Mrs. Patrice leaves. He'll beat Kyle, accusing him of telling Mrs. Patrice about her letters.
24 6 Sidney Lucky's Café After being asked by Nicole to come to the kitchen because she had a problem, if Kyle talks to Nicole in the kitchen without talking to Sidney first, Sidney will come inside as well. He gets mad as he warns Kyle that customers are off-limits, and Nicole starts crying.
25 6 Marie 2nd Floor Hallway After taking the ring from Betty, if Kyle visits Marie's room and you choose the option "Why did you sell Betty your ring?", Marie gets angry and kicks Kyle out. After that, Betty approaches him looking frustrated, because she now has to pay 100x the value of the ring back due to the broken promise and wants Kyle to help with the debt. Kyle retaliates at the turn of events, refusing any blame, and leaves the building.
26 6 Dylan 3rd Floor Hallway In a conversation when you visit Dylan to borrow a magnifying glass, if you choose the option "I want to check out a jewel" and then "I'm looking after one for Betty", Dylan will convince Kyle into checking the ring for an appraisal. Dylan sees the ring and makes a fuss about Kyle stealing Marie's ring. Kyle tries to explain, but he is beaten by Dylan.
27 6 Betty Room 203 When pursuing Betty, if you make a mistake in the choices that appear after asking the questions "What did he plan to do in there?" and "Why did Rex go out with you?", Kyle will be told to get his facts straight, and will be kicked out of the room without being able to hear the truth from Betty.
28 7 Sidney Lucky's Café In a conversation with Sidney after he found out that the other person Tony invited was Kyle, touch the Inquire icon and select "Quit laughing!", then touch the Inquire icon again and select "When you're happy?!" After that, Kyle beats Sidney, to Nicole's horror.
29 8 Mrs. Patrice Lobby In a conversation with Mrs. Patrice after hearing the story of her trial from Sidney, if you choose "I'm really interested in it" after selecting "I'd like to hear about your court case", Mrs. Patrice's expression will evolve from stiff to angry. She'll refuse to talk about what she's done and Kyle gets kicked out of her room.
30 8 Mrs. Patrice Mrs. Patrice's Room In a conversation with Mrs. Patrice when you visit her apartment, she hurriedly leaves the room if you chose "Sidney, from the café". As Kyle pursues her, Sidney will make a sudden appearance, looking hopeless as he was urged by Mrs. Patrice to immediately pay off his debt. Kyle can only lament, as due to his careless comments, Nicole's dream is shattered.
31 8 Dylan Lobby In a conversation with Dylan after Kyle leaves Mrs. Patrice's room, if you choose "We talked about her late husband" and then "Because of the murder case", Dylan will get suspicious of Kyle. Dylan will then report to Mrs. Patrice, who'll kick Kyle out of his apartment.
32 8 - Room 305 When developing a photo taken by Charles, if the photographic paper is taken out of the tray too early or left in for too long, the development of the photo will fail. Charles tells Kyle to give up looking at the photo because it's the last one, and he can't continue the investigation anymore.
33 8 Mrs. Patrice Room 306 When you sneak into Will's room in Room 306 and get a "Front Page", Charles will give you a signal (the signal will be given at the next key object you investigate if you get the "Front Page" first before looking at anything else). If Kyle moves before the signal is given again, Mrs. Patrice will come in from the hallway. Kyle will be found to have trespassed someone else's room, and is told to leave his apartment. (If you took "Will's Passport" before the "Front Page", Frank will appear instead. See Game Over #34.)
34 8 Frank Room 306 When you sneak into Will's room in Room 306 and get "Will's Passport", Charles will give you a signal. If you move before the signal is given again, Frank will come in from the hallway. Kyle will be found to have trespassed someone else's room, and Frank says he will report to Mrs. Patrice, then leaves. (If you took "Will's Passport" before the "Front Page", Mrs. Patrice will appear instead. See Game Over #33.)
35 8 Will Room 306 When pursuing Will, in the questions "Where did the banknotes come from?", "So who killed Kathy?" and "What kind of revenge?", Will won't tell the truth if you make a mistake in the choices that appear in each question. He will eventually say that he has nothing to talk to you and kicks you out of the room.
36 9 Marie Rooftop In an attempt to move Marie away from the edge of the rooftop, if you close the Nintendo DS lid while Marie is still facing Kyle, Marie will dodge him. The noise from the event will make a scene while Kyle is treated coldly by Marie, as she didn't actually plan to jump.
37 9 Dylan 2nd Floor Hallway In a conversation with Dylan in front of Room 202, if you choose the option "Marie's being threatened by Nile", the suspecting Dylan will go to her room and Kyle will be accused of telling Dylan her secret. Marie then states that she won't run away from Nile and will even join them.
38 9 Dylan 2nd Floor Hallway In a conversation with Dylan in front of Room 202, if you select "Yeah, he sure did", Dylan will leave in a hurry. He then reports to Mrs. Patrice, who comes to Kyle and explains that she kicked out Marie under the suspicion of fraud. Kyle desperately replies that he gave Dylan the wrong information, to which Kyle gets kicked out too.
39 9 Dylan Room 304 When pursuing Dylan, if you select a wrong choice from the options that appear after asking "Who told you to watch Marie?" and "What kind of information did you receive?", Kyle won't hear the truth from Dylan and he'll be kicked out of the room.
40 10 Frank Room 302 After talking on the phone with Ed, visit Frank in Room 302. Kyle decides that Frank is the culprit, but Frank will deny any wrongdoing. Eventually Kyle finds a "Rope" as evidence in the room, however it was provided to all residents, thus being insufficient to pin Frank. You will have to go back to Room 406 to look for further evidence, but once inside, Kyle gets sprayed again by the assailant.
41 10 Frank Room 302 In a conversation inside Frank's room after approaching Mrs. Patrice's room, Frank shuts his mouth if you chose "Dylan Fitchar" after being asked about the man who told Kyle about the safecracker. Frank angrily replies that you should tell the truth and kicks you out of the room.
42 10 Frank Room 302 When pursuing Frank after approaching Mrs. Patrice's room, Frank will not tell the truth unless you select the question panels in the correct order. If you ask a wrong question, the conversation abruptly stops and you will kicked out of the room. Kyle's investigation ends, even though the truth was so close...
43 10 Mrs. Patrice Mrs. Patrice's Room When pursuing Mrs. Patrice, if you make a mistake in the choices that appear after selecting the questions "How did they manage to sell it secretly?" and "What did Michael do to double-cross George?", Mrs. Patrice shuts herself and the conversation abruptly ends. She won't talk to you anymore and Kyle will be kicked out of her room.
