Background[]

George was a musician who played the saxophone and was a part of a band when he was young. He soon met a nineteen-year-old dancer named Margaret. Although, he wasn't really a good person as Margaret found out that he was always with a different women each time and used to keep dubious company without expressing shame for himself. Despite all of that, she fell in love with him. They eventually got married but with no children of their own and the two lived together. When he attempted to commit crimes, she needed to know the details of everything he was involved in as well and became George's accomplice. The guilt from all of the crimes was chaining them together but it wasn't enough to keep their marriage alive and he was getting more and more distant as his love for her was fading.

He was also the ringleader of Condor, a subsidiary of the crime syndicate Nile that specialized in stolen jewelry. Hotel Cape West served as a sort of headquarters of Condor.

On December 14, 1955, upon being informed by a superior officer from the Los Angeles Police Department and fellow member of Nile Hugh Speck who said that the safecracker Chris Hyde was infiltrating the hotel in order to search for the Scarlet Star, George sent out Michael McGrath to murder Chris on his behalf to protect it. After the deed was done, Michael, feeling remorseful not only for involving himself with Condor to sell stolen jewels but also killing a person for the first time, hid the Scarlet Star and lied to George about the jewel being stolen as he planned to leave Condor for good. Despite this, George had seen through Michael's lie but pretended to believe him. Feeling resentful at his friend's betrayal, George swore to punish him at the right moment.

In 1967, the time finally came for his revenge; on the last day of Hotel Cape West's service, Michael hosted a party to celebrate its closure. Fatefully, Kathy McGrath was found dead in one of the hotel rooms; she was murdered by George after poisoning her own wine, primarily for his vengeance on Michael and that her company caused boredom for him too. This happened right after he and Kathy both cheated on Margaret and Michael by sleeping together a few days before, she was also likely enticed to do so. George acted this way to humiliate him before ending her life, and that aside from wanting to torture Michael as much as possible. In an act of audacity, George attended Kathy's funeral to feign respect for Michael, who was devastated by his wife's death.

One night, George was fatally shot by Michael who broke into the Patrice family residence to kill him as an act of revenge to end his torment. This unexpected event happened in sync with Margaret's attempt to end George's life out of atonement for her impotence to stop him from committing more unforgivable acts, even if she really loved him as an 'unrepentant monster'. After the shooting, Michael knocked her out cold, then planted his own gun in her hand to frame her as George's murderer and fled. Margaret was arrested and put on trial after regaining consciousness. While she was suspected of murdering her husband, she withheld the truth from the police and lawyers hoping to be found guilty, but there wasn't enough evidence and declared a 'not guilty' verdict. Margaret inherited George's money, which she used it to purchase Hotel Cape West and convert it into an apartment complex, hoping she will maintain her and George's dark secret regarding Condor and Kathy's murder and take it to her grave.

Personality[]

Though little is known of his personality firsthand, Margaret tells Kyle that George could be a particularly cold, and calculating individual. His cruelty and anti-social nature is reflected in Mags' recollection of George, after he had killed Kathy McGrath; she explains that George had a sadistic smile on his face, as if to suggest he was not only glad that he'd succeeded in his murder and revenge, but that he also found amusement and/or pleasure in it.

It also speaks volumes about his vindictive nature, that he waited 13 years before exacting his revenge on Michael McGrath. In addition to this, Margaret suggests that George's revenge was also tied to Michael's desires to sever ties with Condor, and how he expressed this desire to George. Consequently, George warned Michael, his long time friend and associate, that he could not help him if he were a stranger, as opposed to a friend (The strong implication being that George was threatening Michael). It is also suggested that George's choice to have an affair with Kathy, Michael's wife, was in part to humiliate him before he murdered her, and that aside from wanting to cause Michael as much pain as possible, he murdered her simply because he'd become bored of her company. Further still, this enforces his sadistic personality.
