This article is about a character from Last Window, you may be looking for George Graham.
George Patrice is the deceased husband of Margaret Patrice. He also has a criminal history.
Background[]
George was a saxophonist who was a part of a band when he was young. He soon met a nineteen-year-old dancer named Margaret. Although, he wasn't the best person as he was always with a different women each time and used to keep dubious company without expressing shame for himself. Despite all of that, she fell in love with him. They eventually got married but with no children of their own and the two lived together. When he attempted to commit crimes, she needed to know the details of everything he was involved in as well and became George's accomplice. The guilt from all of the crimes was chaining them together but it wasn't enough to keep their marriage alive and he was getting more and more distant as his love for her was fading.
He was also the ringleader of Condor, a subsidiary of the crime syndicate Nile that specialized in stolen jewelry. Hotel Cape West served as a sort of headquarters of Condor.
On December 14, 1955, upon being informed by Hugh Speck that the safecracker Chris Hyde was infiltrating the hotel in order to search for the Scarlet Star, George sent out Michael McGrath to murder Chris on his behalf to protect it. After the deed was done, Michael, feeling remorseful not only for involving himself with Condor to sell stolen jewels but also killing a person for the first time, hid the Scarlet Star and lied to George about the jewel being stolen as he planned to leave Condor for good. Despite this, George had seen through Michael's lie but pretended to believe him. Feeling resentful at his friend's betrayal, George swore to punish him at the right moment.
In 1967, the time finally came for his revenge; on the last day of Hotel Cape West's service, Michael hosted a party to celebrate its closure. Fatefully, Kathy McGrath was found dead in one of the hotel rooms; she was murdered by George after poisoning her own wine essentially for payback (and likely lost interest in her). Plus, he didn't take the disappearance of the Scarlet Star very lightly. This happened right after he and Kathy cheated together on Margaret and Michael by sleeping together out of petty revenge towards the latter a few days before. In an act of audacity, George attended Kathy's funeral to feign respect for Michael, who was devastated by his wife's death.
One day, George was fatally shot by Michael who broke into the Patrice's family home to kill him as an act of revenge (possibly due to Kathy's murder). This unexpected event happened in sync with Margaret's attempt to end George's life out of atonement for her impotence to stop him from committing more unforgivable acts, even if she really loved him as an 'unrepentant monster'. After the shooting, Michael knocked her out (probably because of Margaret's affiliation with George), then planted his own gun in her hand to frame her as George's murderer and fled. Margaret was arrested and put on trial after regaining consciousness. While she was suspected of murdering her husband, she withheld the truth from the police and lawyers hoping to be found guilty, but there wasn't enough evidence and was given a 'not guilty' verdict. Margaret inherited George's money, which she used it to purchase Hotel Cape West and convert it into an apartment complex, hoping she will maintain her and George's dark secret regarding Condor and Kathy's murder and take it to her grave.
