Jenny Smith is a minor character linked to the Hotel Dusk owner Dunning Smith in Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
Around a decade prior to the game, Jenny was kidnapped by Nile when she was a little girl. After her reunion with her father, years later in 1991, she was with him at Lake Juliet as it can be seen in one photo.
Appearance[]
As a child, she is shown wearing her hair in pigtails, with overalls over a short sleeved shirt (also wore a long sleeved shirt with stripes in a old photograph) and a necklace stamped with the letter J. As an adult, her hair is again in pigtails and she wears the same necklace, along with a long sleeved collared shirt, a sweater vest, near ankle length pants, and converse styled sneakers.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Jenny, but Mila and Dunning both speak of her fondly.
Background[]
She is the daughter of Dunning Smith and his wife. Dunning said they struggled to make ends meet since he tried working as a painter but nobody gave him a chance.
In 1960, when she was a toddler, her mother died on a plane crash in Las Vegas, along with Mila Evans' mother and Iris and Grace's mother. Her father met Robert Evans and her daughter Mila at the airport, devastated over the accident. The following years both men embarked on a scheme to pass his father's paintings as the ones of a fictional dead painter named Osterzone.

Years later, she and her father traveled to Hotel Dusk so that he could discuss business with Evans. Both men left their daughters playing in Room 111. They became fast friends and fell asleep later on while waiting for their fathers. Meanwhile, Dunning told Evans he wanted out of the scheme since he was tired of hiding himself behind Osterzone's shadow and wanted all the merit from his work. Evans, who got involved with Nile, pressured him to continue, but when he refused again one of Nile's henchmen went into Room 111 and took Jenny away, knocking Mila unconscious in the process after being attacked by the agent.
Evans told Dunning that the only way to get her daughter back was to become Osterzone again, and he obliged, but after 3 years of non-stop painting he lost all hope. Evans wrote him to keep waiting for Jenny at Hotel Dusk and promised him she would be returned one day.
For nine years, Jenny was kept hidden by Nile.

She reappeared on New Years Eve, 1979, presumably being let go by Nile as she was of no use to them anymore. She reunited with her father with tears on her eyes.

Eleven years later, both of them travel to Lake Juliet.
Trivia[]
- Although this is only a theory, there is a high possibility the girl in the Angel Opening a Door painting is how Dunning imagines Jenny.
