"Look at me when I'm speaking to you, young lady! Why would you do that while we're eating? ...Don't "Dad" me! I've had it up to HERE with your back talk! For once, could you just do as you're told and be quiet? I'm so tired of this, and I don't want to hear any more excuses!"
— Kevin to Melissa

Kevin Woodward is a guest of Hotel Dusk that lived in Room 219 (Bravery). He is the father of Melissa and husband of Grace. He is also a surgeon who works at Robbins Memorial Hospital.

Appearance[]

Kevin has a casual style of his age, having brown hair and little facial hair. He wears a long sleeved beige shirt with a dark brown collar, gray pants and black shoes.

Personality[]

Kevin is shown to act like a professional but bitter person when he introduces himself to Kyle and turned harshly strict to Melissa whenever she misbehaved or disobeys him. Kevin can also started to become unmannered and cantankerous especially towards Kyle, due to his accumulated stress over his family life circumstances and whenever Kyle tries to pry into the topic. He can get intoxicated very easily, if doing so, he starts to act childish and impatient.

Spoiler warning! This article or section reveals major plot details below.

He had signs of being depressed and self-pitiful in some way due to Grace's disappearance as it was shown that he would react paranoid to sudden huge sums of money she had collected to pay for the lawsuit and refusing to overlook her ambiguous actions on how she earned it, possibly out of sense of responsibility and concerns, frequently argues with her. When Kyle bluntly talks some sense into him about his cowardice that caused huge strains to his family's relationship resulting in Grace leaving him and Melissa struggling with the parental separation. He acknowledges it humbly, admitting he was in the wrong and becomes more cooperative and even helpful, once he sobers up as he tells Kyle about Mila herself. Kevin tries to make an effort to be on better terms with his daughter as well.

Background[]

Kevin met his wife, Grace, when she was working at Gallery May in Santa Monica. They married sometime after, then Melissa was born and Grace quit working, so she could spend more time with her family.

Around 1969, Kevin heard about a patient named Mila Evans from his fellow medical staff. She was brought to Robbins Memorial Hospital while unconscious. She didn't have any visible injuries and had slipped into a coma. Her father, Robert Evans visited the hospital once a month for a year (like clockwork) to check on her. They didn't see signs of hope, mainly concerning her health status. However, Mila eventually came around. The attending physician was astonished when he discovered that she recovered, believing it was a miracle. After waking up from her decade long slumber, Evans stopped visiting the hospital. They tried to contact Mila's father several times but lost touch and the medical bills were paid in advance as well. Brian Bradley using the name Kyle Hyde, went inside the same hospital to visit Mila before she awoke and left the building. With Evans unavailable, the medical team thought of contacting Bradley. Like what happened to the former, they weren't able to contact him either.

Kevin and Grace arguing

Kevin and Grace arguing.

In 1977, he lost a patient and the patient's family sued him for malpractice and won the case. He didn't have enough money to pay them, so he asked Grace for a divorce but she refused. She gave him a huge amount of money to pay them and made him promise that he would never ask about where it came from. But soon after, Kevin began to wonder and asked his wife where it came from again and again.

In June of 1979, they had a big argument and then Grace left both him and her own child, leaving only a message on the back of a puzzle which she gave to Melissa as a gift. As a result, Kevin had to raise his daughter in her absence. At some point, he tried to search for Grace with Melissa tagging along for the ride to go to Hotel Dusk after looking through her purse and finding a matchbook inside.

Hotel Dusk: Room 215[]

In the game, Kevin decided to stay at Hotel Dusk with Melissa in Room 219. While there, he was unable to spot clues in the hotel that has any sort of connection to Grace.

In the hotel, Kyle sees Kevin on the first floor and tries to communicate to him, but he refused to do so. He states that he wants to be left alone. Kyle decided to confront him and learned about Kevin's past. Then, he thinks that he is a loser to Kyle, he agrees and makes the choice to be a better man when Kyle lectured him.

Later on, as he sobers up, he notices Mila Evans and recognized her, next he asks Kyle for her name and Kevin gets confirmation from him. Kyle gets curious and asks him how he knows her and he responded by stating that she was a patient at Robbins Memorial Hospital.
